I haven’t done any video game tutorials yet… but I really should, shouldn’t I? They’ve become such an expansive and expressive form of media in the last decade, and the characters in narrative games are very well crafted. One of my favorite franchises, Assassin’s Creed, is especially like that – you literally jump into the shoes of a historical character and experience their world as they lived it (violently, but so beautifully too). Thus I was really excited to see that the newest installment, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, has a female assassin I can really identify with. Evie Frye is lithe, controlled, organized, and has braids. So yup, it was time to make my first video game tutorial.
It’s a pretty darn easy hairstyle, so lots of others can get into the assassin mode for themselves. Much cheaper than making a full leather assassin’s outfit too 😛
You just need to know how to Dutch braid, and then make a ballet bun / cinnebun. More detailed steps are below, plus there’s the video up there you can watch pretty quickly.
Hair Length: at least collar-bone length, less than waist length
Materials: small hair ties, bobby pins
Skills needed: Dutch braid
Time cost: 10-20 minutes
ideal hair type: any
Step 1) Part your hair slightly off-center, like Evie has. Also draw parts from your ears up to the back of the center part, sectioning off the hair in front of these parts. Tie the rest of your hair into a ponytail to keep it separate.
Step 2) Dutch braid each forward section towards the back of your head. Watch the video for how to Dutch braid.
Step 3) When you have both braids done, tie them together at the back of your head at ear level, and undo the braiding below this tie. Now twist all your hair up, and wrap the twist around its base to form the bun. Bobby pin secure.
I actually had a lot of fun filming and editing this video, which are things I normally find boring compared to the actual hair styling. So I hope you enjoy 🙂9 by
