This tutorial is on the more simple and trendy side, and should interest those of you who like fantasy stories but don’t necessarily want crazy hair. Disney’s live action Cinderella movie premieres on March 13, 2015 and features these looks on the main actress.
I’ll give a quick overview of the instructions below, but if you want a more detailed how to (like how to do a French braid in general!), watch the video at the bottom of the page.
For the first one, part your hair on the left and French braid the hair on the right side down towards your ear. When you reach it, continue the braid as a French lace (adding in only to the top of the braid) horizontally backwards. When you reach the middle of the back of your head, finish the braid to the ends. Pull on the sections now to pancake the braid, and then tie off with a small hair elastic. Also French braid on the left side of your head, starting near the part and moving down the side of your head towards your ear. When you reach it, finish the braid normally to the ends, pancake it, and tie off.
For the second hairstyle, which Cinderella wears to the ball, give yourself a center part and then section off some hair along your hairline from part down to your ears. Tie these sections below your chin for now. Then grab a chunk of hair from behind your ear, comb it forwards and upwards, and rope braid the section. Lay it over your head as you do so, and when you reach your opposite ear, tie off with an elastic. Do the same rope braid on the other side of your head. Pin these rope braids in a headband position. Finally, untie the hair under your chin, twist the sections towards the ceiling a few times, and then pin them over the rope braids on the side of your head. Voila!
