Hope you’re as excited for the new Star Wars movie as I am! We’ve still got a few months before Episode VII: the Force Awakens comes to theaters (two months and ten days to be exact, but who’s counting…) so we have time to get into the spirit of things with some hair from the earlier movies 🙂

Padmé's braided hairstyle in Star Wars

Padmé’s curly half updo with side buns

This style specifically is from Episode II: Attack of the Clones. It’s what Padmé wears while on Naboo and Tatooine with Anakin. It’s quite soft and romantic, so you can wear it for a Star Wars costume but also for any sort of formal occasion like a school dance or a wedding (maybe you’ll want to change the side buns, but that’s easy to do).

So check it out!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Hair Length: at least bra strap length (BSL)
Materials: bobby pins, small hair elastics
Skills needed: Rope braid
Time cost: 15-40 minutes
ideal hairtype: curly

Step 1) Curl your hair!

Step 2) Separate off two large sections of hair, one on each side of your head.

Step 3) Rope braid these sections and fluff the braids if you want a little extra volume.

Step 4) Spiral these braids into buns on the sides of your head and pin in place with bobby pins.

Step 5) Take a few sections of hair from your lower side hairlines, twist, and pin horizontally across the back of your head in an alternating fashion.

Step 6) Add a silver headband or a ribbon around your forehead to accessorize like Padme does in the movie!

Also, this video was sponsored by Lionesse Beauty Bar so let me take a moment to talk about them – they’re a salon-quality hair supply company, which means they make high performing hair tools and products. I was a fan of them before, so when I asked them to sponsor me for a video, they set me this awesome 4 piece curling wand set (which I show off more in the video). It’s got four differently sized barrels that you can attach to the main unit, so you can get pretty much any size curl you want. It also comes with a heat resistant glove to wear while you’re curling so you don’t ever burn yourself (what girl doesn’t have a traumatic memory of curling iron burns from early in their life?).

If you want your own curling wand set, single curler, or whatever else from Lionesse, you can visit their website here and when you check out, use my discount code “plaits25” for 25% off your order!

Thanks for watching as always, and see you next Thursday!
