I’m very excited for December this year.
Sure, there’s Christmas and the chance to annoy all my relatives with incessant Christmas music on my Pandora, but we’ve got an extra special present coming this time around. On December 17, the new Star Wars movie premieres – Episode VII, the Force Awakens!
In anticipation of this, I’ve gotten a lot of requests to do a tutorial for Rey’s hair. It’s very easy and adjustable for many hair lengths. Plus, since Rey is likely the daughter of a certain power couple from the original trilogy and she’s sure to play an important role in the story to come, this style would be excellent to wear for the premiere and any Star-Wars themed events.
Hair Length: at least shoulder length
Materials: one small hair elastic, three large hair ties, a few bobby pins
Skills needed: nothing special
Time cost: 10-20 minutes
ideal hairtype: any
Step 1) Gather up your bangs (or the hair that would be your bangs if you don’t have them), smooth them back, and tie with a small hair elastic.
Step 2) Gather up the top third of your hair, and tie it into a ponytail. Except, right when you’re about to pull the tail through the hair tie one last time, don’t pull it all the way through so you have a loop of hair.
Step 3) Wrap the rest of the tail of hair around the hair tie to hide it, and use a couple bobby pins to hold this wrapping in place.
Step 4) Pick up the next third of hair and also make this into a ponytail loop. Wrap and pin the tail around the hair tie.
Step 5) Make one final ponytail loop with the rest of your hair.
And that’s all there is to it! I even wore some space shuttle earrings for extra nerd points.
Hope you have a great time at the premiere!4 by
