Fighting ferociously, inspiring truth, wielding god-given weapons, and building a better world – man, even just talking about Wonder Woman gets me fired up and empowered. If you’re feeling excited by this movie as well, I’ve got a new video out for you that shows you how to replicate her warrior braid from her time among the Amazons. Not everyone gets to be a princess born from clay, but we can look like Wonder Woman!
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Hair Length: at least shoulder length
Materials: hair tie
Skills needed: fishtail braid
Time cost: 10-20 minutes
ideal hair type: any
This style is pretty simple conceptually. So long as you know how to fishtail braid, just a little bit of extra practice on this technique should have you ready to go in no time!
Step 1 – Part your hair from ear to ear so the fingers meet on top of your head.
Step 2 – Start doing a fishtail braid with this hair. Once you’ve done a couple passes…
Step 3 – Start adding in new hair like in a French fishtail braid. However, instead of just adding new hair from the left side of the head to a strand from the left side of the braid and weaving it over, first pass this new hair underneath the braid, and then add it to a strand from the right side of the braid before weaving it over. Same with new hair from the right side of your head – pass it under the braid, add to a strand from the left side of the braid, and weave over.
Step 4 – Continue this cross-under French fishtail pattern down the back of your head. When you run out of new hair to add in, finish the fishtail braid normally to the ends.
Step 5 – Pancake the braid a little to make it look thicker and more natural. The cross-under technique helps hold the braid intact more during this process.
And that’s all there is to it! Now you can go out and live bravely like Wonder Woman, and look a bit like her too!1 by
